Singapore is winning in Esports both on an individual and infrastructure level. The country has a competitive edge compared to other countries in Southeast Asia—Singapore has higher smartphone penetration, strong internet infrastructure, and established gamers and gaming facilities. This has helped them build a better Esports industry, emerging as a regional hub in the video gaming industry. But their journey doesn’t end here. The country is now taking over the international Esports arena, all thanks to Esports teams like Bleed Esports.

Bleed Esports is an Esports team based in Singapore that has quickly risen to fame. Their skills have helped them scoop various awards both at national and regional levels. Bleed Esports placed 3rd in VCT 2022: APAC Stage 1 Challengers despite being only five months old. During the Malaysia and Singapore stage 1 Challengers VCT 2022, the team came in 2nd. Bleed Esports was also part of the SEA esports championship 2021: Singaporean qualifier, taking home the top spot.

According to Mervyn Goh, the founder and CEO of Bleed Esports, their goal is to compete internationally. Bleed Esports has already laid this foundation, as their stats are incredible. Their second goal is to bring diversity to the Singapore Esports industry.

Mervyn explains that each gamer has a distinct style that is often affected by their origin. He believes that by sharing these ideas, they can form a power team that will reshape the global Esports industry and helps young gamers improve their skills.

Bleed Esports is the first Asian team in Valorant to import players from Europe to Asia. They have worked with several European gamers, including Swedish player Jacob “Pyth” Mourujarvi. Pyth a the former G2 Esports Valorant player. He is a former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player known for his time with Ninjas in Pyjamas, with his work receiving a lot of attention. Some of Pyth’s achievements include first-place finishes at Twitch Rivals: Valorant Launch Showdown, G2 Esports European Brawl, Red Bull Home Ground 2020, and WePlay! Invitational 2020 and BLAST Twitch Invitational. Pyth won nine events with G2 Esports and helped the team reach the top four in First Strike Europe.

Bleed Esports are looking to sign more local and international players, using this opportunity to help gamers improve their skills and even their stats. Esports is becoming more and more popular in Singapore. Since COVID, there has been an increase in the number of gamers, which is a good sign for the Singaporean market. But not everyone understands the video gaming industry and how they can become pro gamers. Bleed Esports wants to help others hone their skills as they show young gamers that they can make it. The Bleed Esports team mainly consists of young players.

As an entrepreneur, Mervyn is also using this to encourage young entrepreneurs, especially those planning to join Esports. Starting Bleed Esports was not easy. Mervyn had problems getting players, as most wanted to work with established teams. This was too big of a risk for many international players as they had to leave their established teams. Even though it was tough, Mervyn didn’t give up on Bleed Esports. He continued building his team and writing to different gamers. Bleed Esports is now the first Asian team in Valorant to import players from Europe!
