  Beaulieu retires from Fraser-Madawaska Fraser Paper Ltd. Plant Manager WE McKinnon congratulates Theophile Beaulieu of Madawaska, who retired from Fraser on December 31, 1971, at the age of 65, a second-class Plumber.

Happy Feast-When Madawaska McDonald's reopened, for every Big Mac and luxury sandwich sold, one dollar was donated to help the community solve the problem of hunger. Restaurant owner Jean Marc Albert (Jean Marc Albert) to St. Thomas Aquinas (St. Thomas Aquinas) and St. David (St. David) Social Justice and Peace Committee Chairman Adrian Gagnon ( Adrien Gagnon presented a check for $544. These funds helped fill the food basket.

Pajama Party-During American Education Week, Madawaska Elementary School held a reading pajama party. The students and teachers spent a fun reading night wearing pajamas and holding teddy bears.

The two post offices will remain open until spring-Grand Island and St. David’s post offices will remain temporarily because the U.S. Postal Service has chosen to postpone the closure or merger of any post offices or mail processing facilities until May 15, 2012, according to Service press release. Earlier this summer, postal officials announced that these two facilities were one of more than 30 postal facilities planned to close in the state. The U.S. Postal Service stated that its decision to postpone the closure was "in response to requests made by multiple U.S. senators."
